What’s the Team Currently Working On?

Although there are many things the team is working on, preparing for our performance at the Iowa State Dance Team Competition is definitely topping the list right now. We learned the routine at the beginning of October and are working hard to clean and perfect it for competition. We will be competing out in Des Moines, Iowa on November 30th.

The Kids’ Dance Clinic 2017 (for students in grades K-5th) – Permission slips went home recently and need to be returned by Friday, November 10th. The clinic will be held on Saturday, January 6th with the team/students performing at the basketball game on Tuesday, January 9th. If you would like a form or know of someone who would enjoy attending our clinic, please contact Mrs. Jessica Medinger at jessicamedinger@marquettecatholic.com.

Plans for the Upcoming Season  –  We will be performing the Superhero Routine from the summer, begin work on the routine for the kids’ clinic, and will be continuing work on a Newsies Routine. Other routines will be discussed later in the season.

The team is looking for a few items…Could you help us?

We are going to be creating a routine based on songs from Newsies. We are looking for items to incorporate into our costumes. Some examples include (but aren’t limited to): vests, suspenders, newsboy hats, a variety of solid/plaid/striped pants and button down shirts, newspaper bags, and handkerchiefs. Older styles/patterns are preferred. Please contact Mrs. Jessica Medinger at jessicamedinger@marquettecatholic.com if you think you have some items we could use.

EXCITING NEWS….Senior Allison Hager is 1 of 17 finalists for the ISDTA Senior Scholarship! She is the first dance team member from Marquette Catholic to ever apply for this scholarship. She will be traveling to Newton, Iowa in early November for a 10 minute interview. We wish her the best of luck and are so proud of her.
